The final premiere at the Hungarian State Opera in the year 2016 is a piece that has never been performed at the Budapest Opera. Dialogues des Carmélites by Francis Poulenc is put on stage by artistic director Ferenc Anger with musical direction by internationally renowned conductor Christian Badea.
The Hungarian National Ballet, the 130-year-old official ballet company of the Hungarian State Opera, announces an audition upon invitation to be held from 10 a.m. on 15 January, 2017 at the Opera House for immediate openings as well as contracts starting 1 August, 2017 (depending on the applicants’ work visa requirements).
After a hiatus of 13 years, Lucia di Lammermoor returns to the repertoire of the Hungarian State Opera in a brand new production directed by Máté Szabó with Klára Kolonits and Erika Miklósa in the title role.
On 16 September, Zoltán Balog, Minister for Human Resources, and Szilveszter Ókovács, General Director of the Hungarian State Opera guided the representatives of the press through various spaces and workshops of the Hungarian State Opera to describe and exhibit their conditions before the modernisation of the Opera. According to the decision brought by the Government, the modernisation of the Hungarian State Opera can be realised from 23 billion HUF (7.6 million EUR) to make the Opera House a modern, safe and worthy place of work and entertainment by the spring of 2018.
Following up n the great success of last year’s Shakespeare Gala, the Opera organises another gala this season. The Háry Gala on 25 February 2017 will bring two star guests to Budapest: Italian bass-baritone Ildebrando D’Arcangelo and Latvian dramatic tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko.
