The Ervin Lázár Programme at the Eiffel Art Studios

In autumn 2019, the State Secretariat for Culture at the Ministry for Human Capacities announced the grand programme with financing of several billion HUF that is definitive in providing primary school children with access to high culture. As opera and ballet are included in the programme for eighth graders, children leaving primary school will be visiting from all over the country to enjoy theatrical experiences which are entirely unfamiliar to most of them. The youth performances offered as part of the Ervin Lázár Programme was first announced in the spring of 2020. Sadly, due to the pandemic, the majority of the programme had to be held online; but still, 27,000 eighth graders saw our performances. In the 2021/22 season, however, the students could return to the auditorium of the Bánffy Stage at the Eiffel Art Studios.

MVM has always considered it important to nurture arts and support talents. Thus, to mark the reopening of the Ybl Palace in March 2022, the long-established company committed itself to being the OPERA’s strategic partner for the next two years. The cooperation focuses on helping the institution with popular programmes for young people, such as the recently launched Piccolo Programme,  which gives many young people access to cultural events who would not have the opportunity to do so because of their family situation or physical distance.

Planned performances in the 2023/24 season:

Donizetti: Il campanello (new production)
Puccini: [szkikki] 2.0 (Gianni Schicchi)
Purcell: Dido and Aeneas
