Tamás Daróczi | Opera Singer
He was born in Árpástó, Romania in 1954. He studied music in Cluj, where he graduated in 1980. He made his debut in the same year on the stage of the Cluj State Opera House in the role of Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly. He first came to Budapest in 1983, when he sang the role of Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana in the Erkel Theatre. He has appeared as a guest singer in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Israel. He is a permanent guest singer in the Komische Oper, Berlin, where he sang the role of the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto directed by Harry Kupfer. He has been a member of the Opera House since 1988, his repertoire ranges from Mozart (Belomonte - Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Tamino - Die Zauberflöte) and Verdi (Oronte - I Lombardi, the Duke of Mantua - Rigoletto, Alfredo - La traviata) to Puccini (Cavaradossi - Tosca). In the past few years he has sung character roles too.
