Nabucco - Abigaille

After her vocal studies with Lucia Cappellino at the Conservatorio di Musica in Cagliari, she continued her studies with Renata Scotto. In 1990, before her graduation, she won awards at several international singing competitions. She has sung on many major Italian opera houses including Milan, Cagliari, Palermo, Florence, Ravenna, Parma, Bologna, Verona and Turin. Her international career began in the 1999/2000 season. Since then she has appeared in opera houses and concert halls like the Opéra Monte-Carlo, the Bayerische Staatsoper (München), the Teatro Carlo Felice (Genova), the Hamburgische Staatsoper, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Teatro Real of Madrid, the Washington Opera, the Seoul Opera, and the Opernhaus Zurich where she sang the role of Lady Macbeth with Thomas Hampson as her partner in David Pountney’s famous production. In 1998, she received the title “UNESCO Artist for Peace” in Paris. Her repertoire includes the title roles of Norma, Carmen, La Wally (Catalini), Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Turandot, Giovanna d’Arco (Verdi) and Aida as well as the roles of Santuzza and Minnie (La fanciulla del West), and Abigaille (Nabucco). She is to arrive in Budapest from Amsterdam, where she has sung the role of the Mother in Dallapiccola’s Il prigioniero under the baton of Ádám Fischer.
