La clemenza di Tito - Vitellia

The Italian soprano graduated from the Cherubini Conservatoire, Florence in 1989. In 1990, she won the Catarina Cavalieri Award at the Mozart Competition in Vienna for her achievements in the role of Kontanza, and debuted at the Vienna Staatsoper in the same year. Besides Konstanza, she sang the following roles in Vienna: Euridice (Haydn: L’anima del filosofo), Alcina (Händel), Countess Almaviva, Donna Anna, Emma (Schubert: Fierrabras) and Violetta Valéry. She debuted in Zurich in the role of Alice Ford, and has been a regular guest singer there ever since, and also sang at Covent Garden, London and the Berlin Staatsoper. She made her debut at La Scala Milan as Amenaide (Rossini: Tancredi). Audiences in Milan, Genova, Bologna and Munich highly acclaimed her in the role of Norina. She has regularly appeared at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro since 1995. Eva Mei has sung at many major opera houses in, for instance, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Turin, Venice, Tokyo, Paris and Brussels. Her repertoire includes the main roles of La Sonnambula, Norma, Lucia di Lammermoor, Der Schauspieldirektor, La finta giardiniera, Le nozze di Figaro, Turandot, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Il Turco in Italia. Besides her appearances on the operatic stage, she often appears as a soloist of oratorios. She debuted in Budapest in the role of The Queen of the Night at Die Zauberflöte production of the Budapest Festival Orchestra in 1991.
