HERBERT LIPPERT
La clemenza di Tito - Tito

The Austrian tenor is one of today’s most sought-after Mozart specialists. As a child he was a soloist of the famous Wiener Sängerknaben, and later studied music pedagogy at the University of Vienna. Two conductors, Sir Georg Solti and Wolfgang Sawallisch, played important roles in his career. Several recordings were made under their batons, including Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, which was awarded with a Grammy in 1997. He often sings with the Vienna Philharmonics, not only at operas and concerts, but also as a soloist of operettas. He often works together with conductors like Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Franz Welser-Möst, Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta and Seiji Ozawa. His major engagements in the recent period include concerts with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Concentus Musicus, Riccardo Muti and the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio, the Maggio Musicale Orchestra in Florence, Fabio Luisi and the Dresdner Staatskapelle, Daniele Gatti and the Orchestre National de France, and Franz Welser Möst and the Vienna Philharmonics. The most important event of the previous season was his debut as Lohengrin at the Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires, and as Max in Der Freischütz at the Vienna Volksoper.
