Events



The closing event of the Saaremaa Opera Festival being held between 19 and 28 July 2018 will be a centenary gala concert featuring the artists of the Hungarian State Opera. This gala will be one of the highlight events of the programme series celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Estonian state, at which Ferenc Erkel's  Meghalt a cselszövő (“The intriguer is dead”) from Hunyadi László and “Hazám, hazám” (“My homeland, my homeland”) from Bánk bán will be heard together with the melodies of Evald Aav, honoured as the father of Estonian national opera, for the first time on a single night. In addition to these classics from the Hungarian and Estonian opera literatures, the concert programme will also include audience favourites from Verdi.
