The Hungarian National Ballet’s programme GIF (Girls in Focus) offers a selection of gems from the contemporary repertoire that place the female ballet artists – and their versatility, strength and sensitivity – in the spotlight.
After presenting Hans van Manen’s sensitive pas de deux Trois Gnossiennes, the “amazons” will perform the choreography Troy Game, originally written for male dancers, demonstrating that they too can handle sequences of movements that are difficult enough for men. The following piece, Falling Angels, is an evocative choreography showing the link between the challenges of female existence and the dancers’ efforts to attain perfection. Closing the show is van Manen’s fierily energetic work composed to the work of Astor Piazzolla, 5 Tangos.
The admission is free, however registration is required for the two performances on the 13th of April, 2019.
