The next concert in the series of the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Alexander Lazarev on Monday, 30 November, 2015 at 7.30 p.m at the Opera House. The programme includes Piano Concerto 1 in d minor by Brahms (featuring pianist Sofya Gulyak) and Elgar's Symnphony No. 1.
The Hungarian National Ballet, the 130-year-old official ballet company of the Hungarian State Opera, announces an audition upon invitation to be held from 10 a.m. on 24 January, 2016 at the Opera House for immediate openings as well as contracts starting 1 August, 2016 (depending on the applicants’ work visa requirements). Applications by classically trained, professional male and female ballet dancers are welcome. Outstanding technique and qualities are a must. The ballet class will be given by Mikhail Messerer.
In the series entitled Song recitals on Dalszínház Street, German tenor Gerhard Siegel and Chicago-born Gabriel Dobner await fans on 5 November, 2015. The programme features songs by Richard Strauss, Hugo Wolf and Arnold Schönberg.
Xavier Sabata is one of the most outstanding contra tenors of 21st century. The Catalan singer first performed at the Hungarian State Opera in the season of 2014/15 in Vivaldi’s Farnace. He is going to hold his master class between 7 and 10 December in the Bertalan Székely Hall in the Hungarian State Opera.
The one-act pieces entitled Il tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi that make up Puccini's penultimate work, Il trittico can be seen from 12 December, 2015 at the Erkel Theatre in Ferenc Anger's new production in Italian, with Hungarian surtitles.
