Poppea, the lover of the emperor Nerone, decides to have herself crowned empress. And her efforts are successful.L'incoronazione di Poppea will be presented based on a revised score by Máté Bella that preserves the essence of Monteverdi’s final dramatic work while also enriching it with contemporary musical elements. Staging it will be choreographer Dóra Barta. By integrating Kornél Fekete-Kovács and his line-up of jazz musicians into this production, the Opera is continuing down the fusion path it started on with 2016’s The Fairy Queen.
