Antti Mattila studied in University of Art and Design Helsinki graduating with a MA degree in scenography in 2007. He has designed productions of over thirty plays for Finnish theatres and is currently designer in Helsinki City Theatre. He has also designed sets for modern dance in the Finnish National Ballet and several operas, for example Aulis Sallinen’s Kullervo for the Savonlinna Opera Festival 2014. To name a few Mattila’s collaborations with director Vilppu Kiljunen before the Budapest production of The Mine and Love, he designed the sets for the world premiere production of Kalevi Aho’s opera Frida y Diego in 2014 in Helsinki, and Tampere Opera’s production of Verdi’s Nabucco in 2015.
