Born in Budapest in 1990, Zsófi Geréb studied aesthetics and philosophy as part of a general humanities course at Eötvös Lóránd University's Faculty of Humanities. She spent the years between 2010 and 2015 working toward a degree at the University of Theatre and Film Arts, studying in the theatre directing course under the guidance of Gábor Székely and Viktor Bodó. Since October of 2015, she has been pursuing a master's degree in opera directing at Berlin's Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik. In 2015, as one of the winners of the Titanium Competition, she created projekt_LULU*, her thesis production, at the Jurányi Incubator House with the support of Manna Productions and the MASZK Association, also presenting it at Szeged's THEALTER Atelier. In October of 2015, at the invitation of Müpa Budapest, she directed Monteverdi's opera L'incoronazione di Poppea featuring the Orfeo Orchestra playing under the baton of György Vashegyi, with Emőke Baráth in the title role. In June of 2015, he served as an assistant to Balázs Kovalik in the production of Der fliegende Holländer in Müpa Budapest's Wagner in Budapest Opera Festival. In spring of 2016, she was Róbert Alföldi's assistant for his production of Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring at the Bayerische Staatsoper. In the autumn of 2014, she directed Haydn's chamber opera L'isola disabitata at the Opera House, where it has remained in the repertoire ever since, as a co-production with MoltOpera and the University of Theatre and Film Arts.
