Mária Mányoki was born in Nagyvárad (Oradea) and pursued her studies at the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca). She is a member of the Kolozsvár Hungarian Opera, where she has sung her principal roles, including the Dog and the Farmer's Wife (in Miklós Csemiczky's The Bremen Town Musicians), Mari (in Schubert's Die Verschworenen), Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia), the Wicked Stepmother (John the Valiant), Örzse (Háry János), the Neighbour (The Spinning Room), Santuzza and Mamma Lucia (Cavalleria rusticana), the Third Boy and the Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Krisztina (Baroness Lili) and the Grandmother (Miska the Magnate).
