Patrick Delcroix was educated at the Centre International de Danse Rosella Hightower in Cannes and the École de Danse Colette Soriano in Orthez, France. In 1982 he joined the Iwanson Dance Company in Munich before being engaged by the Scapino Ballet in Rotterdam and the Nederlands Dans Theater I where, under the direction of Jiří Kylián, he danced from 1986 to 2003. During these years he worked extensively with many celebrated choreographers, including William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Edouard Lock, Nacho Duato, Hans van Manen and Jiří Kylián, with whom he created many ballets. His choreographic career began with his participation in the NDT annual workshops which were introduced in 1988. He was further encouraged to pursue this field of choreography, by being invited by Jiří Kylián to create numerous works for all three companies of the Nederlands Dans Theater I, II and III. To date, Delcroix has created and re-staged over 40 works on 25 companies. Delcroix teaches and stages numerous works by Jiří Kylián all over the world, working with companies such as the Royal Danish Ballet, Boston Ballet, Dresden Semper Oper Ballett, Ballet de l’Opera du Rhin and the Paris Opera Ballet, amongst others. In 2001, he was knighted by the French government for his services to the arts and received the Chevalier dans l’ordre des “Arts et des Lettres”.
