Carla Teti grew up in Rome and studied at the city’s Accademia di Belle Arti. As a costume designer she has worked at leading theatres both in Italy and abroad. Her operatic work includes Cavalleria rusticana, Suor Angelica and La rondine for the director Luca De Fusco, Eugene Onegin for Yuri Alexandrov, Nabucco for Graziano Gregori at the Arena di Verona, Ascanio in Alba for Franco Ripa di Meana at La Scala Milan and Boris Godunov with Andrei Konchalovsky in Turin. Since 2004 she has worked continuously with Damiano Michieletto. Among their productions are Stefano Pavesi’s Il trionfo delle belle, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Ramón Carnicer’s Il dissoluto punito, ossia Don Giovanni Tenorio, La gazza ladra at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where the production was awarded the 2008 Premio Abbiati, Madama Butterfly in Turin, Lucia di Lammermoor, Il corsaro, Luisa Miller and Poliuto in Zurich, Roméo et Juliette, Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro and Così fan tutte at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and La bohème at the 2012 Salzburg Festival. In the 2012/13 season she designed the costumes for Michieletto’s productions of Il trittico at the Theater an der Wien and the Royal Opera in Copenhagen and Un ballo in maschera at La Scala, Milan. In 2011 Carla Teti was awarded the Premio Abbiati and the Opera Award as best costume designer. In the spoken theatre she has designed the costumes for several productions of the I Fratellini company and also for Andrei Konchalovsky’s production of King Lear in Warsaw in 2006.
