Born in 1982 in Budapest, Orsolya Dér graduated from the Pestszentlőrinc High School of Economics and Information Technology in 2000 before earning a degree in economics from the public finance department of Károly Róbert College in Gyöngyös in 2005. In May of 2006, after a brief stay in England, she joined the staff of the Hungarian Prison Service's economic division. She has worked at the Hungarian State Opera since March 2017, starting as head of the financial department. In March 2018, she was appointed acting business director, a position that was made permanent on 1 July of that same year.
