The Polish mezzo-soprano Katarzyna Kuncio graduated from the Music Academy in Poznań, and was a student of Walter Berry at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna.
She attended master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender, Gundula Janowitz, Theo Adam and Ernst Haefliger. In 1997 she won a 1st prize in the Schubert Voice Competition in Osaka.

From 1998 to 2004 she belonged to the ensemble of Stadttheater Bremerhaven. Since 2004/05 she has been member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf/Duisburg, where she has portrayed, among other roles, Octavian (Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier), Charlotte (Massenet: Werther), Komponist (Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos), Fricka and Waltraute (Wagner: Der Ring des Nibelungen).
