Greek tenor Vassilis Kavayas earned his degree in voice from Salzburg's Mozarteum in 2011, after winning Yamaha's National Vocal Competition (YMFE) in 2007. He made his début in 2008 in the role of Edoardo (in La cambiale di matrimonio) at the Municipal Theatre of Corfu.
His repertoire consists chiefly of tenor roles from Rossini and Mozart. He sang Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) in Heidelberg, Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola) in Athens, and later on in Prague and Trieste, as well as Ferrando (Così fan tutte) and Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) in Athens and Count di Libenskof (Il viaggio a Reims) in Pesaro and Lisbon. In 2012, as his first recording, he sang the role of Porsenna in Gluck's Il trionfo di Clelia. In addition to his work on the opera stage, he is a regular guest in concert halls interpreting works by Mozart, Bach, Haydn, Rossini, Vivaldi, Jomelli and Hasse.
