Budapest-born Erika Végh was eight years old when she took up artistic gymnastics at the Honvéd Sports Association and by age 13 had made it to the adult first division level, qualifying for the Hungarian Olympic team. After graduating from Steinmetz Miklós High School (today's Hunyadi Mátyás High School), she enrolled at the Budapest University of Physical Education, where she qualified as a high school physical education teacher and artistic gymnastics coach in 1982. Afterwards, she completed additional training in aerobic and jazz dance there. After several years of work, she also qualified as an instructor of rhythmic gymnastics and Pilates and, as part of the Erasmus programme, also attended three circus schools abroad, where she also taught the students there: the Escuela de Circo Carampa in Madrid, Circomedia in Bristol and Le Lido, in Toulouse.
She worked for years as the head of the physical education department at the Prince Árpád Primary School and, between 1989 and 1991, also taught special gymnastics at the Hungarian Dance Academy (now a university) as an outside lecturer. She has also taught ballet at Budapest's Deák Kindergarten, served as the logistics director of the Veled-Érted (“With You And For You”) Association, and since 2007 has also worked at a teacher at the Baross Imre Acrobat Training High School of the Performing Arts. She teaches acrobatics, aerial acrobatics and trapeze to both preparatory and specialising students. She has been the head of the preparatory department since 2016.
At the Hungarian State Opera, she has worked on productions of Aida and The Magic Flute for children.
