Following several open-air programmes, musical life is resuming at the Hungarian State Opera – outdoors. On 19 August 2020, the eve of the National Holiday, the park surrounding the new venue called Eiffel Art Studios will host a massive gala programme featuring the artists of the Hungarian State Opera and one of the most popular tenors of our time: Jonas Kaufmann.
Beginning with 1 July, guided tours are available again at the Opera House. English language tours take place daily at 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. Tours in Hungarian are offered at 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.
The Hungarian National Ballet, the 136-year-old official ballet company of the Hungarian State Opera, announces an online audition upon invitation for soloists and corps de ballet with contracts starting from 15 July 2020 or 1 October for soloists, and 15 July 2020 for corps de ballet (depending on the applicants’ work visa requirements). Applications by classically trained, professional male and female ballet dancers are welcome. Outstanding technique and qualities are a must.

Born in Budapest in 1971, Zsolt Molnár first attended the Béla Bartók High School of Music (1989-1990) before studying under Éva Andor in the voice program at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music (1993-1998). In 1997 and 1998 he participated in courses held by József Gregor and Kolos Kováts. He has also continued his artistic training in programmes with László Polgár, Sylvia Sass, Adrienn Csengery, Ilona Adorján and Dr. Jenő Sipos. In the 1999/2000 season, he was a scholarship student in the opera department of the Conservatoire de Luxembourg, and has been a regular guest singer at the Hungarian State Opera since 2000. Major concerts of his include performing several times both in Hungary and abroad between 1998 and 2000 with the MATÁV Symphony Orchestra, András Ligeti and the Ernő Dohnányi Orchestra under the direction of Gábor Hollerung (singing the bass solo in Handel's Messiah) in the Great Hall of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, at the Budapest Congress Center, at the Chassé Theater in Breda, Dr. Anton Phillips Hall in The Hague, as well as in the concert halls of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
