The Hungarian National Ballet presents a new Laurencia production choreographed by Michael Messerer on 6 March 2020. The production that can be seen seven times this season aims to enchant audiences with spectacular solo dances, duets and ensembles.
Dear Visitors and Customers,
According to the Operational Group commissioned by the Government of Hungary responsible for the containment of the coronavirus epidemic, the height of the spread of the epidemic was expected on 3 May 2020. Therefore, taking the usual one-month rehearsal period into consideration, any theoretical chances of having any performances in the 2019/20 season had ceased. The earliest possibility for the Hungarian State Opera to be open for audiences is in September 2020.
Set and costume designer
Italian costume designer Naná Cecchi can safely be described as a living legend, and has long been referred to as “the queen of costumes” in international theatrical circles. Her teachers were Romolo Valli, Giorgio De Lullo and Luchino Visconti, whose assistant she worked as in staging Mozart's opera Così fan tutte. Equally at home in the genres of film, theatre and opera, she regularly does design work for Italy's leading opera houses. She is also credited on numerous film productions, having worked with Bertolucci as well as being invited to join Hollywood super-productions, designing costumes for films like First Knight and Ladyhawke, in which she devised the dress of such stars as Sean Connery, Richard Gere, Michelle Pfeiffer, Julia Ormond, Alfred Molina and Rutger Hauer.
