Dear Visitors and Customers,
The management of the Hungarian State Opera would like to express their gratitude (also on behalf of the sales team) for the patience and understanding shown by their customers in the past weeks and without whom the institute would have no future. The artists and employees of the Opera are determined to do their best to reward all the love and trust once the epidemic is over.
Born in Győr, Gergely Popa graduated from the Béla Bartók High School of Music before earning his degree in violin and violin pedagogy at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. He joined the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2000 and also served as a guest artist with the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa from 2000 until 2004. Employed with the Mathias Institut between 2004 and 2008, he gained experience in developing and operating performance evaluation systems, but he also never abandoned the music world. From 2007 until 2013, he served as the section leader and concertmaster of the Savaria Symphony Orchestra. He also returned to the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2009 as section leader, with a one-year stint there as orchestra manager starting in 2014. He remained there until 2018, when he joined the Hungarian State Opera as its orchestra director.
