Starring Klára Kolonits, Gabriella Balga, and Juraj Hollý in the leading roles, conducted by Martin Rajna and directed by Máté Szabó, a full-scale stage production of Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda is being presented for the first time in Hungary. The grand production, featuring the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra and Chorus, will premiere on 10 May 2025, at the Opera House, and the 16 May performance will be streamed live on OperaVision.
Benjamin Britten's interactive children's opera The Little Sweep will be performed by László Szvétek, Andrea Meláth, Eszter Zemlényi, and members of the OPERA Children's Chorus starting from 26 April 2024, at the Eiffel Art Studios of the Hungarian State Opera. Part of the MVM Piccolo Programme, the production is recommended for school-aged children. Conducted by Nikolett Hajzer, the production is staged by Attila Toronykőy based on the concept by János Novák.
Giacomo Puccini's La fanciulla del West will be performed five times at the Hungarian State Opera between April 26 and May 9, 2025, starring Chiara Isotton, one of the most promising sopranos in the international opera scene. The rarely staged production also features Zoltán Nyári and Gaston Rivero, as well as Alexandru Agache and Csaba Szegedi in alternating principal roles. The OPERA ensembles will be conducted by Pier Giorgio Morandi.
