Venetian bass-baritone, Tommaso Barea received his bachelor's degree in Treviso/Italy with Pr. Sherman Lowe.
In 2014 as being the youngest winner of the "European Union Competition" in Spoleto/Italy he debuted with the role of Schaunard in La Bohème. In 2016 he joined the ensemble of Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino where he perfected his studies under the tutelage of Gianni Tangucci.
He has collaborated with acclaimed conductors like Z. Mehta, G. Bisanti, J. Valcuha, D. Oren, G. Tourniaire, G. La Malfa, M. Beltrami, S. Rolli, N. Paszkowski, M. Angius, P. Walsh and with directors like H. De Ana, G. Del Monaco, D. Michieletto, A. Bernard, J. Furness.
In this season: the debut at Metropolitan Opera House in Don Giovanni, L’italiana in Algeri at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Don Giovanni at Komische Oper Berlin, at Teatro Municipale in Piacenza and at Teatro Comunale in Modena, Le nozze di Figaro at Norske Opera in Oslo.
He has sung in theatres and venues such as Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, Tiroler Erl Festspiele, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro di San Carlo Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
During past years Tommaso Barea won numerous prestigious National and International competitions such as: Winner of As.Li.Co. competition for the role of Guglilemo in Così fan tutte, "Magda Oliviero Opera Competition" 3rd prize, International competition O.M.E.G.A, Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico "Mauro Pagano" 1st prize, "Franco Federici" 1st Prize, "International Opera Competition Rinaldo Pelizzoni" 2nd prize and Audiece prize, XVI International Competition “Giovanni Battista Velluti” 1st prize, International Competition "Young Musicians" 1st prize and "CountyAward" 1st prize. In 2016 after receiving a prize for "Young Male Talent" he participated in the art project "Ising Beijing". On January 2018 he won the Mercedes Viñas Prize at the “Francesco Viñas” Competition in Barcellona.
