Mikhail Gubsky made his professional debut with the Samara Opera Theatre and became a principal soloist at the Novaya Opera Moscow and a guest soloist at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow. He has since performed main parts including both The Pretender and Shuisky (Boris Godunov), Lykov (The Tsar's Bride), King Berendey (The Snow Maiden), Macduff (Macbeth), Andrey (Mazeppa), Fisherman (Le Rossignol), the title role Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sadko, and Zemlinsky’s Der Zwerg, Jacopo (I due Foscari), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Vasily (Slonimsky: Ivan the Terrible's Dreams), Agrippa (The Fiery Angel), Truffaldino (The Love for Three Oranges), Hauptmann (Wozzeck), and Herman (The Queen of Spades). He has toured in the USA, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and many more. He sang Bach's Mass in B minor at the Moscow's International House of Music with the Russian National Orchestra under the baton of Kent Nagano. He has performed Hussar in Mavra at the Igor Stravinsky Festival with Het Gelders Orkest, Rachmaninoff’s The Bells in Carnegie Hall with James Conlon, Shuisky in Boris Godunov with Mariinsky Theatre, the title role in Prokofiev's Semyon Kotko in Cagliari, The Pretender in Boris Godunov in Santiago de Chile and Palermo, Manrico in Il trovatore with Novaya Opera and Santiago de Chile, the title role in Tristan und Isolde in Regensburg, both Agrippa in The Fiery Angel and Shuisky with Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Herodes in Strauss’ Salome and Hirte in Szymanowski’s King Roger with Novaya Opera in Moscow.
