Enikő Kárpáti first developed an interest in the theatre while attending the Bethlen Gábor High School in Hódmezővásárhely and then went on to graduate from Eötvös Loránd University with a degree in Hungarian and cultural education in 1997. After training as a dramaturg, she eventually decided to take up costumes alongside costume designer Györgyi Szakács. She was a member of the company of the Bárka Theatre for the first two years of its existence, and is currently a freelance artist. She has worked with many directors over the course of her career, including with Tamás Balikó, Tibor Csizmadia, Tim Carroll, László Bérczes, Eszter Novák, János Csányi, Zoltán Lendvai and Sándor Guelmino. In 1989, she received the Theatre Critics' Award, and also took the Phoenix Award in both 2007 and 2009. She has worked on productions at such venues as the Bárka Theatre, the Pest Theatre, the Örkény Theatre, the Budapest Chamber Theatre , Veszprém's Petőfi Theatre, the National Theatre of Miskolc, the Vörösmarty Theatre, the New Theatre, the Jászai Mari Theatre, the Gárdonyi Géza Theatre, the Csokonai Theatre of Debrecen, Sopron's Petőfi Theatre, the Madách Theatre, the Comedy Stage, the National Theatre of Szeged, the Third Theatre of Pécs, the Móricz Zsigmond Theatre, Zsámbék's Theatre and Art Base, the Hungarian Army Ensemble, Trafó, the Esztergom Castle Theatre, the Budapest Puppet Theatre, and the Magyar Theatre.
