Jenő Lőcsei graduated from the Hungarian State Ballet Institute in 1976 under the guidance of Jenő Gál, and then went on to study at the Leningrad Ballet Institute for a year on a scholarship. He became a member of the Hungarian State Opera in 1977 while at the same time appearing as a leading soloist in several European capitals. From 1992 to 1996 he served as ballet director, leading soloist, choreographer and ballet master in Flensburg. In 1996 he returned to the Opera House, where he worked as a soloist, ballet master and choreographer. He is one of the Opera's principal dancers. He has made guest appearances at the Wiener Staatsoper, at the Norwegian National Ballet, at Deutsche Oper Berlin and in Flensburg.
