Born in Bucharest, Romania, and educated at the Choreographic School in Bucharest and at the Vaganova School in Leningrad/St Petersburg. From 1969 Principal Dancer with the Romanian State Opera, dancing leading roles in Swan Lake, Coppelia, Miraculous Mandarin, Giselle etc. and touring in Europe, Cuba etc. 1974-76 dancing with Ballet de Marseille, Roland Petit, as well as pedagogue to the company. From 1976 with The Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm where the leading roles include: Onegin (Cranko), Miss Julie (Cullberg), Swan Lake, The Moor´s Pavane (Limon), Moon Reindeer (Cullberg), Giselle, Manon (MacMillan), Las Hermanas (MacMillan), Pillar of Fire (Tudor), Three Sisters (Panov), Romeo and Juliet (MacMillan). Parallel to dancing career also Company Teacher and Coach to The Royal Swedish Ballet and The Royal Swedish Ballet School. Since 1977 also regular Guest Teacher with The Cullberg Company. 1985-88 Ballet Master at the Norwegian Ballet in Oslo, 1988-89 own production of Giselle for the Norwegian Ballet. From 1990 regular Ballet Master with Arena di Verona in Italy. Season 1991/92 Vice Director and 1st Ballet Master at Teatro alla Scala , Milano. Guest teaching: Semperoper, Dresden; Finnish National Ballet, Helsinki; NorrDans, Härnösand, Sweden; Ballet Academy, Stockholm, Sweden; Dansens Hus, Copenhagen, Denmark; Guest ballet master: Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Opera di Roma, Italy; Teatro San Carlo, Napoli; Teatro alla Scala, Milano. In 2003, 2005 and 2010 reviving Onegin for Royal Swedish Ballet, in 2010 reviving Onegin for La Scala, Milan with Roberto Bolle and Massimo Murru. In 2011 reviving Cranko’s Onegin for Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires and for Universal Ballet, Seoul, South Korea. Since then he's been working on revivals of Cranko's Onegin at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, at Hungarian National Ballet in Budapest, at Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, at The Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerp.
