One-act contemporary dance pieces

Hans van Manen is one of those few choreographers who by combining classical ballet with modern dance and other movement techniques has succeeded in popularising modern ballet across a wide audience. Trois Gnossiennes is a sensual duet about resignation, trust and harmony to the magical and melancholy music of Erik Satie. The 2020 recording features Hungarian National Ballet dancers Aliya Tanykpayeva and Gergő Ármin Balázsi , as well as Éva Hajnal on the piano.

In 2021, an old dream of the OPERA was realised: the staging of the irresistible modern piece Sad Case for Hungarian audiences. The choreography, which is undoubtedly one of the pillars of the work of British Paul Lightfoot and Spanish Sol León , with surprising movements set to Mexican mambo (music by Perez Prado , Alberto Dominguez , Ernesto Lecuona , Ray Barretto , Trio Los Panchos ) reflect the ongoing search for the tension between the satirical and the serious. Cast features Inés Furuhashi-Huber , Yourim Lee , Valerio Palumbo , Motomi Kiyota and Francesco Sardella .

The recordings were made on 11 September 2021 and 19 September 2021 at the Eiffel Art Studios.
