Juan Diego Flórez, the Peruvian star tenor gives a recital at the Opera House on 2 June, 2015. The programme features pieces mostly by French composers.

The internationally renowned tenor first appeared on stage at the budapest Opera in November 2011. He stated that it was an honour to perform at an opera house with such history and fame whose acoustics are perfect as opposed to so many modern concert halls.

Juan Diego Flórez already performed at the Scala in Milan in his twenties. Moreover, he broke the 74-year-old tradition of the Scala by performing one of his arias for the second time to the cheering audience. The tenor has appeared on the leading opera houses and concert halls around the world with such excellent conductors as James Levine, Gustavo Dudamel or Roberto Abbado. Wherever he goes, he is treated as a star. In his homeland he has received every possible awards, even a stamp was launched in his honour.

Conductor of the song recital at the Hungarian State Opera is Christopher Franklin, who became famous foremost at the opera houses and festivals of Italy, but he has conducted such renowned ensembles as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Beside the concert halls of Europe, he has appeared in America as well. As a devotee of contemporary music, he has conducted the world premier of several Italian and Australian pieces. In recent years, he has toured the world with Juan Diego Flórez.
