Archive the past, save the present

Shortly after the 1989 change of regime in Hungary, the once-vibrant flame of the domestic record industry all but flickered out and the recording of operas, which requires unusually extensive resources, fell by the wayside and we are deprived of recordings of the important Hungarian works of the past 30 years. The Opera Vault brand, launched in 2011, aims to rectify every deficiency. The OPERA has pledged to record an entire Hungarian opus in its own studio from time to time and release it in the series. Further Hungarian operas are planned to be recorded as concert performances and some others as live staged productions. Some archived materials of the Radio and collections of recordings by outstanding artists are also released. With the transformation of practices in listening to music, the Opera Vault series is becoming increasingly available on online platforms.
