Lucie Kaňková is a young coloratura soprano of an exquisite vocal technique and breath control. She studied singing in Bern and Luzern, Switzerland with Barbara Locher and in Prague, Czech Republic, with Gabriela Beňačková.

She holds many awards, from different competitions: 1st prize at the Antonín Dvořák’s International Singing Competition 2016, 3rd prize at the Bologna International Vocal Competition 2019, 2nd prize IFAC HANDA Australian Singing Competition 2021 – Audience Prize and 1st prize at the Nomea Competition, with the mention “The Best Opera Singer”, 2nd Prize at the Neapolitan Masters Competition 2022 and 1st prize in Mimas Music Festival in Italy.

Lucie Kaňková is especially admired for her interpretation of Mozart soprano roles such as Queen of the night, Donna Anna, Fiordiligi, Konstanze and Zaide, as well as a performer of belcanto roles (Lucia di Lammermoor, Anna Bolena) and roles of Verdi´s operas: Gilda and Violetta Valéry. In the last season, she debuted as Violetta in LIVE TV broadcast in Chisinau, Moldova, and as Gilda in Rigoletto, at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège in Belgium, being conducted by Daniel Oren and directed by John Turturro. In 2022 she debuted in this role at the State Opera and at the National Theater in Prague. She performs here regularly as Queen of the night, Gilda, Violetta etc. Her musicality and secure intonation led her also to the baroque repertoire (Raffaelle in Haydn´s Return of Tobias, Poppea in L’Incoronazione di Poppea and oratorios from J. S. Bach and Vivaldi). Her acting, dancing and language skills allow Kaňková to expand her repertoire with operetta pieces as well (Giuditta and Adele).

During the upcoming season she will sing Terinka in Dvořák´s Jakobín at the National Theater Brno, that will be recorded by Operavision platform, Queen of the night, Gilda, Violetta in Prague,  Anna Bolena and Violetta in Košice, Queen of the night in Budapest, and Queen of the night and 1st nymph in Dvořák´s Rusalka at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège in Belgium.
