Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Searil returns to the stage of the Opera’s Eiffel Art Studios between 17 and 24 October 2026, starring Kossuth Prize-winning coloratura soprano Miklósa Erika. The production, directed by Miklós H. Vecsei, featuring a translation by Dániel Varró and video animations by Kiégő Izzók, stars Artúr Szeleczki, Boglárka Brindás, Balázs Papp, and László Szvétek, with Tibor Bogányi conducting the ensembles of the Hungarian State Opera. The production is presented as part of the MVM Piccolo Programme.

What else can a young man in love do when his fiancée is kidnapped? Naturally, he sets out to rescue her! Belmonte’s plan is obstructed by Osmin, the violent subordinate of Pasha Selim, while he is aided by two friends, Pedrillo and Blonde, who are being held captive alongside Konstanze. The young Blonde has also caught Osmin’s eye. Miklós H. Vecsei’s 2021 production, aimed particularly at younger audiences, unfolds in a highly imaginative projected environment brought to life by the Kiégő Izzók team, known for its creative visual solutions at popular music events as well.

For the autumn series, Erika Miklósa returns to the role of Konstanze. The Kossuth Prize-winning coloratura soprano has been associated with one of Mozart’s most demanding soprano roles for more than two decades: she first sang Konstanze at the Opera in 2002, and also portrayed the heroine in the 2021 online premiere of Miklós H. Vecsei’s production, as well as its 2022 premiere before a live theatre audience.

Mozart’s popular Singspiel captivates audiences with the irresistible melodies of its 26-year-old composer, its vocal virtuosity, the humorous dialogue rewritten by the director, and its timeless reflections on freedom, love, loyalty and forgiveness. As in the previous season, Artúr Szeleczki returns as Belmonte, Boglárka Brindás as Blonde, Balázs Papp as Pedrillo, and László Szvétek, a Kammersänger of the Hungarian State Opera, as Osmin. The spoken role of Pasha Selim is performed this time by Balázs Szabó.

The Hungarian State Opera Orchestra and Chorus are conducted by Liszt Prize-winning conductor Tibor Bogányi, who returns to conduct Mozart’s work with the Opera’s ensembles following the production’s spring series.

Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail is performed three times during the season, on 17, 18 and 24 October 2026, at the Opera’s Eiffel Art Studios.
